There There is a song written by Radiohead and included in their album Hail to the Thief.

Lyrics

In pitch dark I go walking in your landscape
Broken branches trip me as I speak

Just cos you feel it doesn’t mean it’s there
Just cos you feel it doesn’t mean it’s there

There’s always a siren singing you to shipwreck (don’t reach out, don’t reach out)

Stay away from these rocks we’d be a walking disaster (don’t reach out, don’t reach out)

Just cos you feel it doesn’t mean it’s there (there’s someone on your shoulder)

Just coz you feel it doesn’t mean it’s there (there’s someone on your shoulder)

There there
Why so green
And lonely

Heaven sent you
To me

We are accidents waiting
Waiting to happen
We are accidents waiting
Waiting to happen

There There – Radiohead – Meaning

In pitch dark I go walking in your landscape Broken branches trip me as I speak

The song starts with a natural description of the spiritual and mental world inside everyone of us.

The parallel with the nature, with the references to a landscape and to a tree with the broken branches.

This gives to the words, a sort of velvet language.

Inside the dark of the real world, where all the things are unknows, Thom Yorke live.

Like us.

The things that we know, are the landscape where we live.

And we know the things in whitch we believe.

Can be God, the science or some deep believe inside our souls.

But at some point something happens.

Something is broken.

And we fall.

Our certainties fall.

But we as humans, we start to defende our beliefs.

There are no real proofs of our thoughts.

But we don’t move ourselves from our positions.

Just cos you feel it doesn’t mean it’s there Just cos you feel it doesn’t mean it’s there

And in this lines the solution that comes from Radiohead.

Simply.

Because you feel something, doesn’t mean that it’s real.

This can be God.

But can be a pain. A pain that we carry with us inside our minds.

What is really real. And what is a fake.

And who can tell us the truth.

Everything is relative.

Is relative to ourselves.

To our lifes.

And to the way in which we want to see the world.

There’s always a siren singing you to shipwreck (don’t reach out, don’t reach out) Stay away from these rocks we’d be a walking disaster (don’t reach out, don’t reach out)

This refers to the mythological sirens from Homer’s Odyssey
Whose songs are irresistably attractive, yet led to literal shipwreck.

We must learn how to resist temptations and remain on the right path.

Life is always filled with a lot of distractions and deceptive forces that can lead us away from our goals.

The fact that you hear these sirens doesn’t mean that there’s any good to get or that anyone actually are calling for you.

The fact that you experience obstacles doesn’t mean that there are truly obstacles.

The fact is that it’s only your mind that decide what is real and what is not real.

Yes. We want that the things that we believe can be really true.

And we accept whatever is fueling our desire to believe that the thing that we think can be true.

The siren represents something beautiful or attractive about our belief.

Is simple. Just drawing them to like it and hold to it.

And the shipwreck represent the deception that often accompanies our great and beautiful idea.

Why so green And lonely Heaven sent you To me

And after all. After that you can’t see the truth.

And you continue to believe in something that you can’t control.

After that.

What happens?

You live in an angry state.

With envy and depression with you.

And inside you.

You look so green. And greedy.

But someone sends you to me.

To my world. Maybe i can save you.

Or perhaps, You can save me.

Maybe the heaven sents you to me because i am the person that needs to be saved.

We are accidents waiting Waiting to happen

After all, if we continue to think in this way, we can only wait.

After all everything is outside our will.

We can’t control all.

And our existence is  a case.

We can’t do nothing.
