Map of the Problematique is a song written by Muse and included in their album Black Holes and Revelations.

Lyrics

Fear and panic in the air
I want to be free from desolation and despair
And I feel like everything I sow
Is being swept away, well I refuse to let you go

I can’t get it right
Get it right since I met you

Loneliness be over
When will loneliness be over?

Life will flash before my eyes
So scattered and lost, I want to touch the other side
And no one thinks they are to blame
Why can’t we see that when we bleed we bleed the same?

I can’t get it right
Get it right since I met you

Loneliness be over
When will loneliness be over?
Loneliness be over
When will loneliness be over?

Map of the Problematique – Muse – Meaning

This is a song about love.

About love for a girl. Matt Bellamy is extremely clear in this song about it.

Is in direct contraposition with the mood of Hysteria , where the love is only a shape of a mental obsession.

Fear and panic in the air I want to be free from desolation and despair And I feel like everything I sow Is being swept away, well I refuse to let you go

Inside all the album Black Holes and Revelations, there are a lot of references to the planet of Mars.

Here we have that fear and panic, are the translation for the greek names of the two moons of the red planet.

Phobos and Deimos are the two greek gods of the moods of fear  and panic.

The relationship with the girl have some difficulties, and he tries to explain his emotions.

He is in a state of desperation.

Because everything he tries, and every little effort he makes, simply don’t works.

But the undergound feeling of this words, is that he wants and needs, some change.

He don’t wants to give up.

He wants to defend their love, and their story.

I can’t get it right Get it right since I met you

Here the difficulties to make grow the relationship are clear.

He gets all the responsabilities about that the things go wrong.

When you live lonely, everything is easy.

You must give a response only to yourself.

But when you start to be in a couple, things become more complicated.

The real life and the love blend togheter.

The line Since I Met You during some live performance is changed in the words: Since I Lost You.

This happens after that Matt breaks up with his girlfriend Gaia Polloni.

Life will flash before my eyes So scattered and lost, I want to touch the other side And no one thinks they are to blame Why can’t we see that when we bleed we bleed the same?

When people break up a retationship, there always the need to know who is the guilty.

We must know that the responsability for the separation can be attributed to someone.

But is something that is really similar to the egoism.

You can label every action with the word egoism.

From whichever way you look you can call any action like egoist.

The same happens here.

Who can be blamed?

Is not so easy to do.

And maybe is not so important to do.

After all, at the end of story of love, remain only loneliness.

And a deep feeling of empty.

A cross is made by two pieces.

There is always a moment in every relationship that end, where the responsabilities, can be shared equally.

Loneliness be over When will loneliness be over?

The sad part when you break up a story with someone, is the deep feeling of loneliness that you feel.

And there is only one way to go out from that situation.

Give to yourself time.

There always need of time.

Is the only real medicine for the loneliness.
